WENHASTON VILLAGERS
BE AWARE AND ACT BY 3 NOVEMBER!
Wenhaston is in the path of a proposed major construction project to route underground cables from offshore wind farms.
The Lionlink project aims to provide an electricity link between Holland and the UK.
In Holland, the energy will be pooled offshore. Not so here. Areas of natural beauty will be decimated by a motorway size 100 metre wide cable route carving its way to a proposed energy superhub at a sub-station by Friston.
One proposed route lands north of Southwold pier, slicing through the parishes of Reydon, Wangford, Blythburgh and onwards to Wenhaston.
Walberswick, Dunwich and Aldburgh are also target landfall sites.
There is another way:
An offshore integrated grid, with undersea cables landing at existing industrial sites at Bradwell, Essex and Isle of Grain in Kent, closer to where the energy is needed for London and the south-east. This option however, is not being considered in this consultation.
