Wenhaston Wine Tasting Club has been in existence, in some form or other, for about 15 years. A small number of people get together, on a regular basis to taste wine and meet friends at the same time. Venues have included the back room of the Star, the Bell at Walberswick and the Church Room. Currently we use our excellent Village Hall.
Arrangements have always been informal, there is a membership list but no Committee and no funds. At the present there are 25 members which is the absolute maximum for tasting purposes.
The "Club" meets every other month and tastes 7 wines, 3 white, 3 red and a rose or sweet wine with cheese/pate etc. midway through the evening. Members are supplied with a Programme for the year with a theme for each tasting. To come this year are;
Our aim is to enjoy ourselves and learn a little about wine at the same time. The tastings are usually led by a member with occasional invitations to outside experts in the trade. Tasting Visits have been made to Adnams in Southwold and Majestic in Ipswich.
